On November 28, campus officials, faculty, and student-leaders of Isabela State University-Cauayan City Campus (ISU-CCC) assembled infront of the admin building as advocates for the Kick-Off Ceremony of the 18-day-long Nationwide Campaign to end Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) which began last November 25 until December 18.

Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person, Dr. Mary Jane S. Bitanga, welcomed the stakeholders, highlighting the importance of the campaign.

“This supports the Philippine government’s goal—protecting the human rights of women and girls by upholding its commitment to address all forms of gender-based violence as enshrined in the 1987 Constitution,” Bitanga explained.

Government agencies are mandated to raise awareness and solutions towards violence committed against women and children under Republic Act 10398, which declares November 25 of every year as the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of VAWC.

Furthermore, Dr. Precila C. Delima, defined what VAWC meant to her as the Executive Officer and how ISU-CCC, as an academic institution, has taken steps in providing opportunities in empowering women.

Delima punctuated that with every project and collaboration launched by the university, the institution takes another step closer in abolishing these violences by providing them with job opportunities and trainings.

As the banner was raised, the participants basked in a lively Zumba proper concluding the event.
