Alfonso, Cavite – “United with passion, sailed away with knowledge, and walked with action.” These words perfectly encapsulate the spirit of the 2024 Philippine Association of Campus Student Advisers (PACSA) Leadership Training, November 14-16.
The three-day event brought together student leaders and advisers from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the National Capital Region (NCR) for an inspiring journey of leadership and growth.
With the theme “LAYAG: Leading by example, Adaptability in the midst of challenges, Yearning for growth, Advocate for what is right, Guiding with compassion,” the event emphasized resilience, purpose-driven leadership, and advocacy. It served as a platform for future leaders to cultivate their skills, showcase their talents, and connect with like-minded individuals from across the country.
Among the remarkable participants was the delegation from Isabela State University (ISU) – Cauayan City Campus. Representing the Luzon team, ISU leaders, including Nikka Laccay, Jensent Ortega, Ramuel Melad, Darwin Manuzon, Jord Denzel Gante, Leah Tomines, and Shesaree Sagario, demonstrated exceptional camaraderie and creativity, securing 2nd Runner-Up in the highly anticipated Variety Show Competition. Their performance featured a creative interview-style throwback to a talk show, showcasing the characters’ leadership journey, roots, and milestones.
Adding another feather to ISU-Cauayan’s wings was Mark Zian Antonio, who brought flair and confidence to the Runway Competition, achieving the 2nd Runner-Up title, receiving special awards such as Best Walk (Male Category) and Rising Runway Star.
The leadership training was not just a venue for learning but also a celebration of excellence. Students and advisers competed in various events, where the Mindanao team emerged as the overall champion, sweeping awards across categories:
- Research Presentation (Student Category): Francheska Guanga and John Ryan Huqueriza (Mindanao)
- Research Presentation (Professional Category): Arnold Adante and Gina Agus (NCR)
- Essay Writing: Ma. Angeli Avelino (Visayas)
- Photography: Ferryl Jean P. Maningo (Mindanao)
- Extemporaneous Speech: John Ryan B. Huquenza (Mindanao)
- Spoken Poetry: Rhon Michael B. Dabanda (NCR)
- Variety Show Champion: Mindanao (Team B)
While Mindanao emerged as PACSA’s overall winner, the Luzon team, led by the passionate ISU-Cauayan student leaders, left an indelible mark. Their synergy and dedication to leadership showcased how far collaborative effort and shared vision could take them.
PACSA 2024 was not just about winning; it was about fostering relationships, exchanging ideas, and growing together as leaders. The picturesque Camp Benjamin became a melting pot of cultures, talents, and inspiring stories. Participants returned home with newfound knowledge and a stronger resolve to lead with compassion, adaptability, and integrity.
For ISU-Cauayan, the event was a testament to the potential of its students and advisers. Their passion, creativity, and resilience reflected the university’s commitment to nurturing globally competitive leaders.
As the curtain fell on PACSA 2024, the student leaders and advisers carried with them the spirit of LAYAG, ready to steer their communities toward inclusive growth and sustainable development. United with passion and purpose, they are undoubtedly ready to lead the way.
